Tuesday 14th September: Transforming Troubled Lives
Pre-conference Workshop Day

Supporting the Well-being of Children and Young People with SEBD

The final details of this afternoon and early evening session of workshops will be decided at a later stage but we are delighted that three of the UK's best-known presenters have agreed to lead sessions.

They are:

Rob Long

Rob, an educational psychologist and trainer, is well-known for his impressive workshops that get to the heart of serious matters, blend research with everyday practice and are highly entertaining. He has written a wide range of publications on emotional support and behaviour management. This session will look at strategies for supporting vulnerable learners in the classroom.

Jenny Mosley

Previously a teacher and a drama therapist, Jenny's 'Quality Circle Time' model is now embedded in thousands of schools. She founded the Positive Press and has taught at Bristol University for 15 years. This session looks at how to get the best out of small group work. Her sessions for SEBDA have always been over-subscribed and the feedback excellent.

George Matthews

George was a teacher in various settings and later a deputy head before becoming founding director of Team-Teach. The latter is a widely used training programme for staff in schools and child care settings. It stresses a gradual and graded response to managing challenging behaviours and the use of positive handling as a last resort. The approach stresses the importance of using active listening skills and participating in a process of debriefing, repair and reflection.

If you are able to join us for lunch and wish to attend three workshops then the fees range from £80 to £100.
See details on Registration page.

Attendance at two workshops costs £70 and at one workshop from £25 to £35.
